Lesson: how to create burnt edges. Open up your image or create a new image and fill with any color.

Shift Key + L to utilize the lasso tool. Create a selection with jagged edges.

Switch to Quick Mask mode and use Filter > Pixelate > 3

Switch to Standard Mode and save the selection. After saving, Edit > Fill > White (or any color you wish) > 100% opacity. The choose Select > Modify > Expand > 5 pixels. Switch back to Quick Mask mode and use the Gaussian Blur Filter with a 3 pixel setting.

Back and forth...back to Standard Mode and choose Select > Load Selection > Alpha 1 from the Channel drop-down menu.

Don't deselect just yet. Access Image > Adjust > Hue & Saturation. Make sure the colorize box is checked and utilize these settings, Hue: 16, Saturation, 32, Lightness, -64. Deselect.
