In this tutorial, we are going to use an image as its own frame. Open your image and duplicate the layer.



Make a selection on the original layer and Add Layer Mask.



Click once on the duplicate layer and change the brightness (+29) and contrast (-40).



On that duplicate layer, Select > All, add a 1 pixel border and fill with a darker color. Change the Blending Mode to "Overlay" before clicking OK.



On the original layer, access Image > Layers > Bring To Front. Control +click on the original layer---directly on the mask icon---to load the selection. Only the image part contained within the mask will be active.
